It seems that this is a great time to be a kayaker, water everywhere, West Coast, East Coast, and more! We got a couple of inches of rain, the lake shot up from 784 feet above sea level to 804 feet above sea level (20 feet!) and then they had to open the spill gates, yippee! The Falls, named Great Falls, Rock Island Hole and the Brave Wave were awesome! Nick, Dane, Emily, and I, headed out from the house, drove 400 yards, set shuttle, and headed down to the river just below the spill gates. The level was not too high, but not super low, about 4000 cfs coming through the gates.

We all were very excited to hit the falls, the hole, and Brave Wave, so that is what we did.

Nick and Dane did two lines on the falls, while I took photos, and Emily took video. We only did the left side that day. Afterwards the hole proved to be great fun, but beefy, and then the Brave Wave was smooth, green, and awesome! The camera didn’t get used much at Brave Wave, but the video camera was set up. Dane is making a video to check out from that session now!

Check it out!
