Reno Update

Over this past weekend, we had some warm weather in Reno, just after a snow storm! I took the opportunity to put the new Fun to the test. Newt is a new boater who has been in the park a few times and the pool 3-4 times. He has a great roll in the pool, but we needed to see if it would work in the river. We drove upstream to a rapid called Jaws. It is a bit tough for a first rapid but I thought that Newt could get er’ done! It was not a flawless first river trip, but he did get his first combat roll! The new Fun has been treating him well, and it looks for sure that it will be an even better river running boat than the first. Oh yea, it may have been 50 out, but the water was cold and we had some ice!

After boating, Newt needed to medicate his bruised shin! He decided to kick a rock in the river. We headed over to the Patagonia’s outlet for a kayaking Christmas party. There was a ton of food, music, and movies to watch! Jason Craig was running around handing out JK dvd’s, stickers, and key chains. Any boaters in the Reno or northern California area should make sure that they come to this event next year. If all goes well, I will send a trip report in at the end of the week, Jason Craig and I are off to run the Feather at fish flow.
