Hi there JK,
Yesterday, my buddy Jacob Selander and I drove ourselves the 20 minutes from Portland to Camas, Washington to paddle Lacamas Creek. There isn’t a ton of whitewater on this creek, but what it has is pretty impressive. There’s a nice 20 foot warm up falls and a ways downstream there is a monster 70-80 foot slide that is buttery smooth. We paddled the creek from just below the dam where it spills out, down to the trailhead parking near its confluence with the Columbia… maybe 2 miles… all within cell phone range. When we arrived at the big drop we scouted it thoroughly and we were convinced it would be fairly friendly, although somewhat technical. Here is a video clip (Windows Media Player, 5.2 MB) of the whitewater that waits just on the outskirts of Portland.

Merry Christmas!
