Feather at fish flow

I am just starting to explore all the rivers in my new backyard. Ever since I moved to Reno I was told to check out the Feather river. I got the chance to get out at fish flow 500-550cfs. It runs at this flow all of the time as far as I can tell. Andy Tenbrink, out JK community ambassador in Reno, and I were fortunate enough to have a fearless shuttle driver, Rose, along for the trip. Make sure you are nice to people like Rose. They are invaluable, hard to find, and you only need one vehicle. The feather at fish flow is a perfect introduction into technical creeking. The push is not bad so, a newer creeker will have some time to set up moves with a bit of forgiveness. There are good size pools that separate all of the major rapids, and it is easy to hop out and scout all of the drops from shore. There are multiple lines in most of the rapids, so you can run it a bunch of times and not get bored. The whole run is road side so multiple laps are easy to pull of. The run is generally broken down into two sections. The Tobin section is upstream and is a bit more difficult than the lower section, Lobin. It is a great run to start working on technical creeking skills or a great warm up for the season for a more experienced boater. I can’t wait to check it out at normal flow during the festival later this year.
