Everyone knows that you can’t drive a car with expired tags. Well, our RV has been sitting idle since October of last year and while we took care of all of the safety issues like a bad tire, break pads, tune- up lights, etc., we managed to overlook the registration expiration date. 1,100 miles into our drive at Watertown, NY a New York State Policeman noticed the infraction and pulled us over. He was a nice guy, and we were clearly in the wrong, so it could have gone either way. Luckily for us, we were able to drive the RV to Inner City Strife for a paddling session and get John Ratliff on the program of getting us a registration renewal letter faxed to us. John managed to register the RV this morning for us by finding a single DMV open in Tennessee, about an hour from his house and convincing them to let him renew it out of county. Meanwhile, Dane and I got in two awesome training sessions. Unfortunately we have a host of athletes waiting for boats on the Ottawa and they had to wait another day to get them. (Assuming we make it across the border with only a letter, but expired tags, and 30+ new kayaks. While it is perfectly OK to take boats for world’s athletes across the border, delays are not uncommon.

Inner City Strife was at 12,000 cfs today and last night, a great level for it! It is a series of three waves, with the 1st one being the best. Like many waves is builds green and breaks and then builds again. I was able to do all of the wave moves on it and some combos as well. My blunt/McNasty combo went well there as did the back pan ams, clean blunt left, flash back, and helixes. The CRAZY thing is that it is 72 degrees and sunny here! How lucky is that!

I am sitting in a parking lot at Starbucks ( to email out this update), and there are 5′ high snow banks around us, but it is shorts weather.

The water is coming up fast on the Ottawa right now and I expect Buseater to be in on Monday!

Today is Jay Kincaid’s birthday and he will get a shiny red 4 Fun!

🙂 EJ
