After a great weekend in Buena Vista where we helped-out with the CKS
Paddlefest event, it’s been 4 magical days in Salida for many of the JK
Team. Ruth, Nick, Emily, Dane, Jason, EJ, Kristine, Jesse Coombs, Klass,
and I have all been enjoying the great holes, great coffee, great
restaurants, great camping, and fun Disc Golf since Monday. Salida is one
of my favorite places to be–it’s just ridiculously kayaker-friendly. Black
Dog loves being able to romp with lots of other dogs down by the river and
she really loves Frisbee Golf trips.

Paddling is awesome here: the hole was the site of last year’s US
Nationals, and is probably the best hole that we ever get to compete-in
yearly. All moves are possible, but it’s difficult to avoid simply looping
over and over again because they LAUNCH. Despite the draw to loop, we’ve
been working on Blunt-mcnasty and backloop-mcnasty combos, EJ’s still trying
to link Lunar Orbit-to-Backloop-to-McNasty combos, and I’m working the
blunt-backloop-mcnasty. Tricky Wus, Phonix Monkeys, and all the other more
challenging moves are possible here as well. Paddling highlights for me so
far have been watching Jesse Coombs learning to loop, Backloop, and now try
to Mcnasty (He’s pretty good for a creek boater! ha ha ha). It was also a
blast watching Dane try to loop his punk rocker–that kid could NEVER
flush–it’s almost a 1 pound-to-1 gallon of volume ratio! That would be
like me paddling a 145 gallon creek boat!

Enjoy some pics. I got a rainbow and an incredible mountain sunset as
well as lots of paddling shots.
