Dane Jackson and Jason Craig do a kids clinic for California Canoe and Kayak at the American River Festival!

I am very proud of Dane and Jason and getting a nice letter like this makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! Two 13 year old kids already leading groups of other kids in an instructional setting and doing a good job at it is wonderful for me to see! Thanks to Keith Miller for asking Dane and Jason to fly in to do it!

I wanted to drop a quick thank you note for letting Dane come and help out with the kids clinics at the American River Festival. I think the clinics were a huge success and we had a lot of happy kids and parents. I was especially impressed with how well Dane and Jason Craig were at instructing the group (as opposed to just playing around). I know you’ve commented before on how proud you are of Dane and his results as a kayaker but I think you can take even more pride in how he conducts himself as an ambassador for the sport. He shows more patience and experience when dealing with new paddlers than most instructors I’ve seen who are twice or three times his age. And yet he still has fun playing around on a skateboard or getting into a squirt gun fight – so you know he’s still enjoying being a kid. It was great to have him out there with us.

I don’t know if Dane will be able to make it to the Festival next year but we definitely plan on making this an annual event and we really appreciate the support Jackson Kayak (and you personally) provide us.
