Lauren Burress (age 11) writes about her first Fibark festival in Colorado! by Will Richardson | Jun 24, 2007 | Whitewater | 0 comments By Lauren Burress Photos My First Fibark Festival in Salida Colorado. My First Fibark Festival was awesome. I had so much fun, and I saw lots of my friends. The drive out there was pretty long (28 hours) but it was definetly worth it. It was so cool, the Jackson’s hosted a Cadet Rodeo for kids under 14 to compete in a Freestyle Rodeo in Salida hole. I competed in the Cadet Rodeo since I am only 11 and ended up with 5th place. But what was really cool was that I finally got my loop in a competition. I am so proud of myself. I was happy to have my Daddy on the side coaching me and that made it a unforgettable Fathers Day for him and me. I love paddling and paddling for Jackson Kayak makes it even more fun. Im already asking my parents to take me again next year. We also got some river running in on The Numbers and Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River. That was way cool. I am gearing up for the Junior Olympics in a week and can’t wait to get to meet a bunch of other kayaking kids.
