Another packed week on the Jackson Kayak Camp Instructional Tour

Wow, what a huge week.

It started off with a trip to the Chattooga which was low, very low. But as a wise man once said, a bad day on the river is was better than any day in an office.

Next up I got to campRockmont where they just finished building a sweet kicker kayak ramp. What a perfect day to get to this camp, I helping finish the thing off with the rails and then watch kids launch themselves off it. The guys made it very safe too with just enough angle to get some air and no possibility of getting sideways. Rockmont just got a bunch of Jackson Kayaks and the kids were on the water a bunch. A great day, Hap, Chip and the folks there are really have things dialed.

Next was a day on the Ocoee river with Camp Falling Creek. It’s amazing how that hole has changed a bunch, I still haven’t got my head around it but it is so much better, more sticky and retentive than it was last year. Saw a mate on the river, Jonathan who seems to know that hole pretty well as he was throwing it down big time.

Now yesterday was a sensational day as I got to Gynn Valley Camp in Brevard, a camp for younger aged kids but they still love their paddling. Grant and the folk there really have an amazing sanctuary for younger kids, they totally made me feel at home and also have also just got a bunch of brand new Jackson Kayaks. The kids were eager to learn and the days clinics were packed. That night I premiered a few DVD’s for the campers with some prizes and a talk about paddling. Clear H20 Films made an appearance with part of Hotel Charlie River of Doubt.

Now finally I have a day off after two weeks solid of clinics and road tripping. Well, kind of a day off. Hitting the road to West Virginia…maybe even DC. Yee Haw, road trip.
