So the Jackson Kayak Camp Instructional Tour has started off amazingly fast hitting up Camp Greystone, Falling Creek Camp, Camp Timberlake, Camp Merri Mac and Camp Blue Star. All of these camps have Jackson Kayaks and are teaching a stack of kids how to kayak. It’s been super busy, but great to get to all these camps in the first 5 days of the tour. Five camps in five days, and plenty more to come, that’s for sure.

One awesome experience was teaching at Camp Timberlake, where kids were lined up waiting for boats to get on the water and learn while a bunch of spectators were watching on. What a privilege that was. Even better was a kid, Troy at Timberlake who after a bit of instruction got his back deck roll on the first attempt, coming out of the water yelling and screaming with joy, the entire class also joined in cheering him on. What a day that was and something I will never forget.

Every class is full and the kids have really been eager to learn. Many kids got their roll, and the look on their face is nothing short of priceless. That moment when it all comes together and they get it, this is the reason so many of us teach kayaking.

There are more camps out there than you can imagine and camps are where a great deal of kids get their first experience in learning how to kayak. Personally, I learnt how to kayak at a camp hence why I want to throw out some good Karma to Camps around the South East.

The tour is headed to a few rivers now so if you see us on the water, give us a hi. You can check out more on the camp tour here. blog.jacksonkayak.com
