Easter Celebrations – my dam spilleth over by Will Richardson | Mar 24, 2008 | Heros, Whitewater | 0 comments Photos By Clay Wright I love spending the holidays in Rock Island, and Easter is always one of the best. Because of the State Park Easter-egg hunt? No way – it’s because it’s the most likely holiday where water will run pour from the dam and into the gorge below. This Easter was no exception. After having a time chasing rain with the Hero – Suck Creek, a upper and lower West Prong day with Howard Tidwell, and an incredible Raven’s Fork run with Pat, Drew, Keith, Will, and many more John McConeville and I drove back to celebrate Spring on 6500 cfs flowing through the gorge here at home. Here are some shots from Easter in Rock Island: Marty Cronin – our Jackson Rec man from Boulder drove in just in time to take his first ‘plunge’ , John M takes his first ‘Seive city’ , and everybody surfs Brave Wave at a prime big-wave flow. With the weekend over, the TVA turned off the falls and it’s back to business as usual – really good little waves, the hole, and Brave Wave . Till the next rain ..
