Hey there Jackson, here’s a little update on the Little White race from last weekend.

After the great weekend of racing on Canyon Creek on the 12th it was soon time for the much anticipated Little White Salmon race. There was a lot of hype and talk before the race and it actually ended up be very fun. Though we weren’t blessed with the heat and sun of the weekend before, 18 people showed up in the snow and hail fired up to race the LW! Organized by Rathman and John Grace as a part of the LVM Giant Slalom series, things went surprisingly smoothly and kayakers even showed up EARLY to the put-in. Yes, there was a lot of excitement in the air.

People had been training for weeks, for years even, since the last unofficial race two years ago. Some days on the river the week before the race there were huge, conglomerate crews of up to about 16 people! Just seeing that many people on the river was great, then seeing everybody racing and having a great time made the race days some of the most fun days I’ve had on the river.

There was representation from all over the states and even a few international participants, but it was a locals dominated race with Todd Anderson taking top honors. I think everyone involved though had a great time and would do it all over again just for fun, if not to improve their times a little!
Hope everybody had a good Earth Day. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

Chris
