Look for a Reno article coming soon. I haven’t had time to write one yet. However, it was an incredible event, as always, only bigger this year than ever before! With 45,000+ spectators over 3 days and as many as 10,000 at a time during the Finals, it was quite a busy place to paddle!
Team JK paddled really well winning 7 of the 9 medal positions for the main event on Saturday. EJ, Emily, and Dane winning each of our respective classes (Men’s, Women’s, and Junior Men’s) created the first ever Jackson family sweep at this event. Stephen Wright got second with Andrew Holcomb coming in third in the men’s. Tanya Faux was second to Emily with Ruth Gordon getting third. In the Junior Men’s class Dane won with Reno local boy, Jason Craig in a close second, and then Jonathan Shales from Alabama getting third.
There was some good coverage of the entire event on www.worldkayak.com by James McBeath with over 400 photos. I will be going there myself to read all about it tonight after the Hometown Throwdown in Reno and Nick’s “Here and Now” premier.
