Hey Folks,
It’s been a pretty sweet spring up here in Ottawa,
Canada! With over 13 feet of the white stuff falling
throughout the winter we’ve had epic runoffs. It’s
been almost a month since the Level Six Cup
competition and Annie and I have been busy. In
between moving and getting some classic creek runs in
Quebec’s Laurentian Mountains we’ve had lots of
surfing and teaching already this spring. As Billy
wrote in a previous post, we attended Rapid Magazine’s
Palmer Fest which was a great event introducing 150
brand new paddlers to our sport! The Jackson Kayak
Team was out in full force teaching freestyle,
beginner, and women specific clinics as well as
throwing down in `Hass Hole` ( don’t forget to
pronounce the first H ).

Annie and I have moved our home-base from the city to
the banks of the Ottawa River just in time for some
high-water Ottawa surfing! I got to hit up Big Bus
for the first time which was unbelievable…surging to
the top of that wave and looking down 10-14 feet below
to the green water you’re about to hit is quite the
adrenaline rush! We’ve also been out for many
sessions on Mini Bus which is not so Mini at all. On
one surf, Annie (newest Level Six Team member as
well!) was heard screaming `This is WAY TOO BIG` as
she carved off the shoulder to line up for another go.
The Petawawa river is also only a short drive away
and there are some pictures attached of a great
training session with Annie, Billy and Carly.

Well, I hope you enjoy some of the attached pics from
spring-time in Ottawa and we’re off to surf Bussy
before another weekend of teaching clinics on the
Madawaska.
