The Lyon’s event was a blast as always! We had low water for practice, higher water during prelims, and higher water still for finals. This is a sweet playspot that only requires 250 cfs to be quality. Throughout the weekend several paddlers and freestyle architects moved boulders around the Hole, maximizing it’s potential. In fact, just before freestyle finals, a racer from another event knocked a large boulder off the ledge next to the hole–which caused it to totally wash-out! I organized several stronger local paddlers and even Tao Berman to help roll an even larger boulder in it’s spot. This boulder was so heavy that 5 of us couldn’t quite lift it, we just rolled it about 20 feet into position. This caused the hole to become more retentive again. It was a sweet event–well organized with good people.

Enjoy some photos, which I shot with my new ultra wide 11-16mm f/2.8 Tokina lens. I actually waded out next to the hole to get the camera as close to the action as possible for some of these shots!
