Team Edge of the World In Paradise: By KB

Where is paradise? Team Edge of the World finds paradise in the clear glacial brewed waters of Montana. It was an epic weekend! Jud Kaiser, Big Luke and myself made are way to “Paradise” Friday evening for a sunset session on Super Wave. Super Wave is located on the Kootenai River in Libby, Montana. The Kootenai if you haven’t been there, is point blank Spiritual. This place is sacred, rich in tradition to the Native Americans of Northwest Montana. So if you are a jerk please don’t show up here! The Kootenai River has energy, beauty and a thundering pulse like no other river. This place is a whitewater dream with a sick 20foot park and huck waterfall and a world-class bouncy wave 50 yards below. Also, if your body still works at the end of the day, possibly one of the best 1mile sections of river running is waiting you. Just a couple roll attempts behind Super Wave an island divides the Kootenai into channels. Object is to hit the eddy on river left, not getting smashed off the point of the island or swept river right and flushed on a lonesome, big water class IV tour. So you can see respect is key, for if you’re jerk, there’s lots of places to be punished.
Jud, Luke and myself consider this spiritual place our favorite training ground. Super Wave isn’t the tallest wave in the world, however it’s a full on big wave, which will thump you if you fail to respect it. The falls, wave, sun, rocks and aqua blue water, simply make the setting paradise. After spending time on Super Wave other big waves can seem somewhat relaxing in comparison. Therefore, Super Wave equals killer whitewater training in paradise! I can’t say enough about the sacred energy, which surrounds this place. This is one of those places we will probably never see the world championships, but is one of those places as whitewater kayakers, we should experience. Maybe we will see ya in Paradise?–SUMMERSUMMERSUMMERTIME- Thanks KB & The E.O.W. crew
