The Whitewater State by Will Richardson | Jul 3, 2008 | Whitewater | 0 comments By Ruth Gordon I know why they call it the whitewater state, road side rivers are raging everywhere!!! It was unsafe for me to drive; I couldn’t help but plaster my face to the window to catch glimpses of the copious whitewater. After my recent trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon I planned one more whitewater stop before leaving Idaho. I showed up at the put-in to the South Fork of the Payette Staircase section only to find locals Alec, dad, Mike and Seth. Our timing couldn’t have been more perfect, good whitewater and good friends! A short run the Staircase section provided us with some big rapids (thank goodness for our guides!), big waves, big holes (which I was trying to avoid though it seems it was the little ones that gave me the most trouble) and some fun play. I’m already planning my next trip to Idaho… and you should be too!! Ruth Alec Da Boys Dad Seth blunt Surf’s Up Toby Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
