Boy Scout Troop 175, Sparta, enjoyed the excellent fall weather by paddling the Caney Fork River below Center Hill Dam recently. A group of 10 scouts and leaders used the Troop’s new outdoor equipment made locally at Jackson Kayak Company. The kayaks ranged in size from 10′ to 12′ in length and were the perfect choice for local waters. Some members explored side tributaries while others honed their angling skills. Fresh grilled trout was a welcome addition to the Saturday night menu. Boys ages 11 to 18 are invited to attend the Monday night meetings at 6:30 p.m. at the White County Fairground Agricultural Complex.
