Fall 2008 was the first fall I have been home in Idaho since 2000. I knew I was missing my home, my house, but I did not know I was missing the surf. I guess I somewhat forgot as I was on the Ottawa, in WV, and surfing in Tennessee, Chile’, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Spain, which offered incredible surf and kept my mind off of not being at home. This fall has been awesome. We have been surfing at Cat’s Paw, see http://breatheproductions.com/jackson/media/articles07/article.cfm?article=200809181 for video footage, since the beginning of September.

The campground we use has been named PawVille and last weekend we had 17 campers enjoying the fall weather and the great surf. Brindi came to surf. She wanted to join all of us so bad but was timid. She began ferrying across the river. On one attempt the wave caught her and she was surfing! Her father sent me the email below. Enjoy the photos and special thanks to Dane Jackson for making me a hat in Europe on the World Cup Tour. I have been sporting it in Idaho! Thanks Dane.

Thanks a bunch for the weekend. It was a gas. You helped make a little girl very happy. Brindi can’t stop talking about how much fun it was surfing on that fast wave. What a wonderful accident that was. It is good of you to make it all happen. You are also lucky to have such good friends. I shot way too many photos. It is hard to pick out good ones. I will have to send a few e-mails with photos attached to get you a good sample of the crowd.

The waves stay in all winter, but be prepared for cold water. For now, the paddling is perfect! Devon
