Skookumchuck Surfing with big tides! by Will Richardson | Nov 26, 2008 | Whitewater | 0 comments By Stephen Wright Go to British Columbia in mid November? They’re crazy! Well as it turns-out, we had mostly sunny days in the 50’s and perfectly warm cabins at Strongwater Campground in the nights. What a perfect trip! The adventure started on a Friday afternoon in Reno, where we packed-up 7 kayaks, 3 bikes, 3 dogs, and 3 people into the Sprinter Van. Jessica, Ruth, and I drove for a day and a half to pick-up Nick, Dane, and Clay in Seattle on Saturday PM. After a late flight, we crossed to border and met-up with Billy and Carly Harris, who were nice enough to give us a place to stay in Vancouver. After a big breakfast we boarded the ferry to the Sunshine coast and headed to Egmont. We had 5 days of surfing tides from 16.5 -12.5 knots, which equalled big early morning tides. The days were perfect with a 30 minute bike-in through a rain forest at dawn most days, 5 hours of surfing, then the return bike-out. Everyone was working new tricks, and we got some great phtotos. Enjoy! These are shot by Jessica, Clay, and some jerk. Live from the Reno Airport, Stephen Wright Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
