After 19 years of paddling very hard including 5 years of slalom training and competing, 10 summers of instructing-guiding-video boating, 13 countries visited, one fractured vertebrae scare including a neck brace for 2 months, too many pulled muscles and sore backs to count, and too many cold cold Canadian spring paddling sessions to count – I have finally made the team to compete at the World Freestyle Kayaking Championships in Plattling. For anyone who has put in countless hours of effort towards something, they know that those countless hours are in fact the reward in themselves…but I must say that finally being rewarded with a spot on Canada`s freestyle team is very fullfilling. So I will keep heading out for those cold mornings and snowy afternoons like today at the Champlain bridge in Ottawa. Cold weather, new Rockstar, and good friends – that is the real reward – but all the same, Bring on Plattling!!!!!!!!!
