Last weekend saw Adrian Kiernan, Chris Dixon, Callum Lawson, Riley Best and myself head south in search of some more first d’s around the Paluma range and a couple of waterfalls rumoured to be hidden in the Tully gorge. Unfortunately even the best laid plans don’t always work out, and this was one of them.

Our trip got as far as Tully. Going of local directions we found the run down access trail to the Kooroomal falls in the Tully Gorge Valley. Being too lazy to walk we decided to try and drive over a few downed trees that had fallen during the recent cyclone. All good and well until we got to the waterfall at the end of the track and my new truck had water pouring out of the radiator, it seems that a rouge stick through the radiator was going to end out trip really short. Determined not to be beaten we left the truck and spent the afternoon charging Kooroomal falls and some stout drops further upstream improving the mood all round, before camping and enjoying a few ales at the tully camp ground.

The next morning after leaving the truck at the local mechanics we headed back home to Cairns piled up into Chris’s VW 2 seater transporter with 5 creekers, 4 play boats, 5 blokes, and all our gear. On the way home the call was made to hit up Paronella Park, which is a sweet 50ft park and huck . Paronella is normally quite hard to catch at the right level, but today we were in luck, the flows where perfect and made for some great shots with the camera.

Unfortunately we didn’t get down too hit up the new rivers around Paluma, and I now have no car, but on a positive side we did get to charge some great waterfalls and get some sick footage. Enjoy the film Adrian put together below.
