Recently, Jackson Kayak agreed to become the headline sponsor for the River Bassin Tournament Trail – the largest paddle powered fishing tournament trail in the world. More information can be found in the press release below the poster.

“The 2011 River Bassin Tournament Trail presented by Jackson Kayak, is back in 2011 by popular demand from kayak anglers across the country. It is for this reason the trail has expanded from five to fifteen stops across the US, from Texas to Wisconsin down to Florida and in between, making it the largest paddle powered fishing tournament trail in the world. The trail will begin in Charlotte, NC, on April 2nd and finish up September 10th in Roanoke, VA, one of the country’s premier outdoor lifestyle regions. Due to the area’s pristine rivers and lakes, Roanoke makes for the ideal setting to host the trail’s grand finale, where food, live music, a separate lake tournament and a film festival will take place along with awarding our river bassin series champion.

The eco-friendly trail is driven by a unique conservation minded, paddle power only, catch-measure-photo-release format that promotes sustainability within the environment. Anglers will fish in surrounding rivers and simply take a photo of their catch on a standard measuring board given to all anglers. Upon taking the photo they release the fish back into the water for future generations to enjoy. By 4:30pm they return to the host location to fill out their scorecard, turn in their camera’s memory card, grab some food and relax while they wait for the “results show” to begin at 6pm.

The “results show” is put on in an exciting slide show format where, at most stops, professional kayak fisherman and tournament MC Drew Gregory will bring the top anglers in all categories (individual angler, team, youth and top female) on stage to display their fish photos and talk with them about their day on the water. Anglers and fans anxiously await to see who the winners will be through the dramatic photo unveiling of their fish.

Throughout the trail over $60,000 in prizes from numerous sponsors will be given away, most notably Jackson Kayak, Diablo Paddlesports, NuCanoe, Bass Pro Shops, Aqua Bound & Bending Branches paddles, Kokatat watersports wear, Paddle and Trail, Amazon Expeditions,,, Gorilla Glue, GoPro Cameras, RAM Mounts, Tallon Systems, Kayak Angler Magazine, Zeko Shoes all the host locations listed below.
