We are within weeks of the grand opening of the long awaited Boise Whitewater Park! The first phase of constructions of the WaveShaper is finished and the scenic Boise Greenbelt paths have been repaved. The WaveShapers are advanced bladders systems that lift flaps to create a variety of features at different water levels. The system is designed to function and be adjusted at levels below 3,500 cfs, but the features created above this level are still pretty awesome. Here is the link to the webcam to check it out for yourself. http://boiseriverpark.com

Whitewater parks are evolving the sport of freestyle kayaking. The construction of the park in Boise along with the Payette River and the construction of Kelly’s Whitewater Park in Cascade (due to the hard work of fellow Jackson Paddler Devon Barker) has created a whitewater Mecca!

Boise is excited to open the park as it brings increased revenue to the city and local businesses. Boise is also home to Idaho’s only Jackson Kayak SuperStore Alpenglow Mountain Sports. So if you are in town you definitely want to visit Chuck Cremer and crew and demo the new Zen on the Payette River especially North Fork of the Payette River!

Here is a peak at the Boise River Park features in my Rock Star L at a level of 6,000 to 7,000 cfs.

See you on the River,
