After six more weeks in Chile, I just got back home to the Southeast. This was my third trip to Chile in the past two years, and I finally made it down to the Rio Futaleufu! New River Academy stayed at a local rafting company, called Cara del Indio, for three weeks of big water awesomeness! Stephen Wright was coaching us all quarter, and this was an awesome opportunity for all of us to improve our big water river-running and playboating skills. The section that we ran most was the bridge-to-bridge section, which is about eight kilometers of non-stop huge waves and holes. The cool thing about this section was that it is not a super hard run to get down, but there were tons of challenging lines that you could create for yourself to make it as hard as you wanted. There were also two really big play waves with eddy service on the way down. We were also there for the annual Futa Fest. There were three different races, and a freestyle completion over the course of three days, and we were able to put our big water river running and freestyle skills to the test! Towards the end of the trip, it rained a lot, and the river came up to a much higher level, making the whole run basically one rapid. The Futa is definitely my favorite big water river that I have run, and one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been. Check out this short edit of our trip!

See you on the water!
