Jackson Kayak Releases its New Illuminati Glow-in-the-dark Series by jacksonkayak | Oct 30, 2012 | Cuda, Fishing, JK Media, Press Releases | 8 comments Industry leading kayak fishing fleet now available in a hue that glows after dark. October 30th, 2012 – Jackson Kayak has launched its Illuminati glow-in-the-dark fishing kayak series this past week in Rock Island, Tennessee. Using its annual Dealer Summit as a launching pad, Jackson Kayak President, Eric Jackson, unveiled its new color option for their fishing fleet, Illuminati. After charging on any light source, any of Jackson Kayak’s core fishing series built with Illuminati will glow for hours after dark. Reference: https://hub.jacksonkayak.com/glow/ The glow in the dark option for colors was developed for both convenience and wow factors. Illuminating kayaks can be seen from a great distance, allow for gear to be viewed with relative ease on the deck after dark and can key for fishing species that come out only at dusk. “We developed this option for those late night cruises, for those who find themselves in the middle of the river or lake after dark, finding your gear on a luminescent deck, for those traveling on overnights and in open seas where being seen by buddies is key” states James McBeath, Marketing Director, “but mostly we find it simply the coolest thing on water after dark!” “The Illuminati series is a surreal experience when on the water, but that cool factor is not the only reason we feel it will be a difference maker with anglers,” states Drew Gregory, Jackson Kayak fishing guru. “There are many functional uses, including better visibility to others while on the water, enough glow light to do most tasks without the use of a head lamp, and if you drop any lights inside the translucent hull it really beams like Casper to draw in those bait fish!!” While auxiliary lighting is still required to meet USCG regulations, the Illuminati series adds additional visibility that can be both handy and add an additional margin of safety in many situations. The Illuminati kayak series begins with the kayak fishing fleet that includes the Coosa, Cuda 12, Cuda 14 and the Big Tuna. These kayaks are immediately available at all of Jackson Kayak’s fishing dealers at an additional cost of $200. About Jackson Kayak: Jackson Kayak was founded in 2003 by Eric Jackson and Tony Lunt. Safety… yeah. Reply Wayne Bradby on October 31, 2012 at 1:10 pm Great idea! Being more visible at night will certainly make the sport safer. Might even draw in some bait fish with others to follow… Reply Matt on November 2, 2012 at 4:33 am Will the new SuperFISHal board be available in the illuminati(glow)? Reply Brooks Beatty on December 16, 2012 at 7:55 pm Hey Matt, The SUPerFISHal will not be offered in the glow initially, but is something we are considering. Thanks, Reply Michelle on December 5, 2012 at 12:26 am Dear Jackson Kayaks, I tried my friend Randy’s kayak here in the Keys and I am sold on your kayaks for fishing. The 3 Kayaks I already own are Royaks and are built for speed. I suggest to get more exposure on your internet business, you mention the word OCEAN KAYAK more often as that is what we have here in the keys and I had a hard time finding you when I forgot the name Jackson. You were no where on the search when I put in Ocean Fishing Kayaks. If you want to sell in the keys and expand your business, put more emphasis on the Ocean going part of the Kayak business. Many thanks and Good Luck, Sincerely, Michelle Happy Holidays as Well Reply Lyn Hancock on November 3, 2013 at 4:57 am I understand that Dr.Barry Rogers, named Inventor of the Year in Australia several years ago, was the first to invent kayaks that glow in the dark. A great idea. He was interviewed on Australian TV and other places. I was going to acquire one. Are you connected? Did you buy his technology? Or are you coming from another direction? Thank you for updated information? Congratulations for bringing the concept to fruition. Reply Clay Wright on November 6, 2013 at 8:01 pm Hey Lyn – No idea about Dr. Rogers but there have been fiberglass kayaks with glow for several years now – some squirt boats look great – as well as other things made of plastic like frisbee’s and toys. I recall a plastic manufacturere showing me some glow in the dark stuff back in the 90’s but we didn’t like the white / pale green color by day at the time. I don’t know anything about the technology or if applying frisbee technology to a kayak is a huge invention but I do think that the lit-up boats looked great out on the water. In our experience the glow is subtle in natural surroundings as dusk takes up some time. “Fire it up” with headlights or with a headlamp inside the kayak for maximum visibility. Thanks for the history! I’ll inquire and if I find out anything I’ll re reply.
