October 30th, 2012 – Jackson Kayak has launched its Illuminati glow-in-the-dark fishing kayak series this past week in Rock Island, Tennessee. Using its annual Dealer Summit as a launching pad, Jackson Kayak President, Eric Jackson, unveiled its new color option for their fishing fleet, Illuminati. After charging on any light source, any of Jackson Kayak’s core fishing series built with Illuminati will glow for hours after dark. The 3 Kayaks I already own are Royaks and are built for speed. I suggest to get more exposure on your internet business, you mention the word OCEAN KAYAK more often as that is what we have here in the keys and I had a hard time finding you when I forgot the name Jackson. You were no where on the search when I put in Ocean Fishing Kayaks. If you want to sell in the keys and expand your business, put more emphasis on the Ocean going part of the Kayak business. A great idea. He was interviewed on Australian TV and other places. I was going to acquire one. Are you connected? Did you buy his technology? Or are you coming from another direction? Reply Clay Wright on November 6, 2013 at 8:01 pm Hey Lyn – No idea about Dr. Rogers but there have been fiberglass kayaks with glow for several years now – some squirt boats look great – as well as other things made of plastic like frisbee’s and toys. I recall a plastic manufacturere showing me some glow in the dark stuff back in the 90’s but we didn’t like the white / pale green color by day at the time. I don’t know anything about the technology or if applying frisbee technology to a kayak is a huge invention but I do think that the lit-up boats looked great out on the water. In our experience the glow is subtle in natural surroundings as dusk takes up some time. “Fire it up” with headlights or with a headlamp inside the kayak for maximum visibility.
