Through a series of events too complicated to explain, I’m on a kayaking trip to Chile but land in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Almost a thousand miles later and we are at our first real river.

Silvio Gallo, is a kayaking legend in Argentina. We’re lucky enough to enjoy his favorite local river, the Rio Diamante. The day proves to be a beautiful paddle through high desert scenery with some good big water rapids. It’s good to be on the water, but the best thing is connecting with talented local paddlers, many who had just spent time with Clay Wright two weeks earlier at the Pan-American games. We finish the day with a classic Argentinian BBQ at Silvio’s new house, enjoying great steaks and local wine.
