The international slalom season is on a break for the next 6 weeks so I decided to load up my Karma, pack my paddling kit and catch a flight a late flight out to Bergan, Norway to get there in time for the Extreme Sport Veko.

I landed and headed straight to the river. Norway is the epicentre of paddling and we were right in the middle of it in the small lakeside town of Voss, 1.5 hours inland from the coast and 440km North West of Oslo.

From the town center there are endless runs full of clean crisp clear whitewater. It is the mecca.

In 2 days I’ll be lining up on the start line for the Ekstem Sport Veko Down Hill Whitewater race. This is going to be a full on battle amongst the boys’ out here. There’s a lot of quick guys rolling into town to try their luck racing for some glory and some precious prize money. I’m really excited about the race, as I haven’t been in Norway for 6 years and this festival is one of the craziest weeks you’ll have in your life.
