Had a KILLER morning recently with my angling buddy Kyle. We got out early and had light winds and a fresh incoming tide from the Gulf of Mexico to hopefully bring us some sight fishing targets. The area we were fishing, close to Big Pine Key, had shown us nice fish before – permit, bonefish, redfish and tarpon – so anticipation was high as we splashed our yaks at the launch. Of course, I was in my trusty Jackson Cuda 14 in the stealthy olive color.

In minutes we had spotted tailing fish and within the first hour we had each landed a large permit. The fun continued with 2 more smaller permit, a bonefish that was hooked and lost, and shots at rolling tarpon. We headed in before noon with smiles on our faces. Check out this slob of a permit that Kyle landed. Fear the beard!
