The Lower Florida Keys aren’t really known as a hot spot for redfish. And for good reason. There are a plethora of spots in Florida that hold many more reds than our waters down here. Still, we have had some in recent years, and while I’m out in my Jackson kayak (Cuda 14) looking for bonefish and permit, I will run across reds from time to time. They are usually willing eaters, and will forgive a bad cast much more readily than bones or permit. And when you find them in a large school, precision usually isn’t necessary. Chuck your offering in the middle of a bunch of upper slot reds and it’s fish on! Check out these fish from three different outings……..
