Freestyle and down-river paddling has opened a world of new experiences and adventures for me. Traveling to new places, paddling new rivers, and meeting new people, are all things that motivate me to continue to live this lifestyle of love for the outdoors. I train almost everyday to aim high in reaching my goals with respect to Freestyle Kayaking. This year a relished in a new discipline of extreme down-river racing and hope to jump into some creeks this fall. Working hard to balance homeschool, work, relationships, and paddling by keeping to a tight schedule. Lucky for me, one of my jobs is giving other people the experience of enjoying the river. Teaching kayaking has always brought me joy, and the gratification I receive from seeing someone progress in this sport is everything. I take pride in my students leaving the water with a huge smile, and them having a sense of self-growth and added confidence. One of my traveling adventures, this past spring, led my family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We explored the city and also volunteered teaching kayaking. The community of OKC and OKC Kayak welcomed our family, alongside the Jackson-Troutman’s to volunteer and teach a weekend of free clinics. We provided everything from kids’ pool sessions, to strokes and concepts, and to flat water freestyle. We were able to work in small groups and with individuals, of all ages and abilities, to meet their developmental goals for their paddling skills they are working towards. Enjoy our video as our family adventures in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and enjoys teaching the beautiful kayaking community there. https://youtu.be/HB2dqtrRPzY Prev 1 of 1 Next Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: Hargrove Adventures in OKC: Exploring the City & Teaching Kayaking Clinics Prev 1 of 1 Next Be sure to following along with all our adventures www.instagram.com/hargroveadventures 3 Comments Donn on September 12, 2021 at 4:31 pm I need whitewater kayaking training, I have a roll but need a battle roll and boat stability training, Reply Debbie Dean on September 13, 2021 at 12:47 am I hope you plan on making this an annual event!!! We loved that your family was so giving of your time and talents. Amazing seeing the little ones at first, timid and afraid, then a few minutes later they had no fear. They paddled up and down the length of the pool showing off their new skills. Some even grasping the roll in no time. At lakeside with the adults and kiddos, you made learning fun. You taught us new things about teaching others and helping us to sharpen our skills. Such great talent in your family. Good luck with your future competitions.
