This past weekend was definitely a case of the “haves and have nots!” Saturday the East Texas Division kicked their season off in Ft. Worth and 24 anglers took to the water to find some big Texas largemouth. But like most lakes around the country the bite was pretty tough as only 5 anglers were able to bring in a limit. A few of those fish that found their way to the TourneyX.com leaderboard were the right kind and Ben Huffmans 22.25” tank would take home Big Bass honors! But its your best 5 that matter the most and Alek Blankenau , a Texas transplant from Nebraska, definitely put 5 solid fish together and set the new season length record of 94.25”! Staying in one small area Alek had found pre fishing the Saturday prior he did most his damage on an old fence row that had some deep water near by. The water temp the week prior was in the upper 50’s but the warm week had the water up to 65 and he was confident that fish would be coming his way! The right ones most certainly did and all though he only had 6 bites he fished clean to take 1st by over 10”!

The rest of the top 5 shook out like this,
2nd went to Ben Huffman 83.75”
3rd Dan Wells 83.25”
4th Nick Lowery 81.00”
5th Erik Simien 76.25”
