Riding the Colorado Snowmelt by eliottbertz | Sep 2, 2019 | Creeking, Nirvana, Whitewater, Whitewater Feature, WW Disciplines | 0 comments This summer, I had the distinct pleasure of taking a short trip to one of my all-time favorite sections of whitewater: Oh Be Joyful Creek in Crested Butte, Colorado. We arrived to warm weather and a considerable amount of intact snow still in the headwaters, which is the perfect combination for great water levels. The rising temperatures caused the creek level to rise each day, making it better and better as the trip went on! The section begins with a fantastic series of waterfalls, then changes character halfway down once the long and fast slides begin. Enjoy this short video of some of our favorite rapids in the link below! Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
