We normally spend the spring and fall in South Eastern BC and most of the summer on the road chasing water and the competitive kayaking circuit.

Like everyone else, covid put a halt to our regular plans and we found ourselves staying put. This, unexpectedly, has become the summer of one boat and one river.

One boat, One river, One Covid summer

We started paddling the lower Slocan River, the local run just five minutes up the road, in mid-March while there was still snow on the ground at the put in.

We’ve paddled over 100 days so far on this single stretch of river and all of it has been in our antixes. We’ve gone from low water to peak high water and are well on our way back to low water again, and haven’t felt the need to paddle any other boat. There is always something to play on, and the antix surfs like a charm, catching little waves all the way up to burley highwater stuff! The extra fun comes from the slicey back end and all the eddy line tricks that keep river play engaging day after day.

With the launch of Antix 2.0 we are excited to have an even better season next year, whether we get to go back to travelling or are still “stuck” with our amazing home river daily runs.
