Kids Kayaking in Buena Vista, CO – Family Fun by kelloggfamily | May 6, 2021 | Creeking, Family Zone, Featured Post, Fun 1, JAdventures Main Banner, JK Family Posts, Whitewater, Whitewater Feature, WW Disciplines | 0 comments Everything is new again for our family. We just sold our house and are legit houseless. And for the time being, it feels so very good to be free and clear from all that home ownership entails. As you might expect, we have big plans for this Spring, Summer and Fall as we focus on finding a new town to call home. Originally we had thought we would be traveling outside the US in 2020 and 2021 but … Covid. So this year we will once again be trekking the country in our trusty ole RV. We have some epic trips planned for mid-summer. We will be traveling to Idaho to run the North Fork, The South Fork, The Main and all the stretches in and around there. And, of course, what is an Idaho trip without a stop at Kelly’s Whitewater Park? We will be kayaking there for a few days and then we plan to head to Washington to run as many rivers as possible in a matter of two or three weeks. But for now, we are hanging in Colorado searching for a homestead. As such, we thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite places to kayak in the state. As we narrow it down to maybe 6 towns/cities in Colorado that have met our criteria, we will be spending some time in each getting a feel for the vibe. Our check list mostly centers on quality of life and continuing the things we love to do together as a family. Of those, kayaking and snowboarding rank at the top. One such location is one of our favorite places, Buena Vista. From hiking the biggest collection of some of Colorado’s biggest 14’ers to the Arkansas River and Monarch for snowboarding, Buena Vista is a top contender. Buena Vista’s stretch of the Arkansas River offers some of the best whitewater in the state for everyone from beginners to experts. It’s no secret that Buena Vista is a family destination for sure. Coby and Elly loved to paddle the Town Run when they were just getting their feet wet in the sport. From the top hole to the competition hole, this run is packed full of fun. Along the way, we would all stop and try our hand at party surfing and giving Elly and Coby a chance to surf. Check out this short video of one of the wave features on the BV town run. This is early June 2020, the water is flowing, the sun is shining, the kids are having a blast!! Stay tuned for more from BV, including the competition hole, and our top river runs, Numbers and Pine Creek! See Ya On the River and On the Road!
