Whether it’s expanding your local kayaking spots or learning about new paddling opportunities as part of your travels, there is a really cool grass roots website that is building up quite a resource list for flatwater, whitewater and kayak fishing spots.

Paddling Maps (www.paddlingmaps.com) started a few years ago as a partnership between Aquabatics Alberta, Paddling Magazine and Paddling Alberta. They are also supported by Kokatat, NRS and Aquabound. They have been slowly building out the data base of resources with information being posted by local paddlers – those that know the info the best.

The site provides location information, put in and take out beta, river levels, local run descriptions for whitewater, and are building up photos as well. You can search by location name, options near you or options by class of water.

They just launched an APP this summer (both Apple and Google) and have a fun contest running all summer with great prizes for new contributions up until August 31st!

Take a minute to check it out, and add a few runs or locations to get entered into the contest.

We’ve been using it for the last two years and love how much it has grown and improved.
