Today is Thanksgiving, and also Kristine’s birthday.
The Caney Fork is releasing at 3,600 cfs (Rock Island) until noon, the
sun is shining and we just finished breakfast, sweet! Kristine’s
aunt Connie and cousin Tim are here for the weekend. Clay is MIA since
yesterday, I hope he shows up to paddle today. I just drove Tim up to
check out our construction site for the new house, and ran the dogs around
the property. Moe, the big black lab, can run 25 miles per hour at 110
pounds, pretty good for a big boy.

The hole has been running every day since we got that
1.5 inches of rain, Finally! The Brave Wave, top waves, and the hole have
been getting play time. I forgot just how fun the top waves are until
yesterday when I did a few rides on them, getting nice backstabs, blunts,
and HUGE loops. Dane busted a move to the hole so I followed him down
and we surfed there for a few rides before he decided that Brave Wave
was calling. The river has been running at 3,500 cfs, a tad low for Brave
Wave, making it a little bit like a hole and a little less of a wave,
but still good for blunts, helixes, McNastys, etc. Today it is just over
3,600 and Emily is hoping that we skip the hole all together and go straight
to the wave.

I am paddling my All-Star with the new Boat Armor
Outfitting and it is way faster than before, how cool is that! The new
seat, U-Channel vertical supports, and the way it all ties together to
make a bomber floor support system keeps the hull from flexing and slowing
it down. Where the green part of the wave on Brave Wave used to be a straight
off flush because it is flat and pulsing, now I can stay on without trying.
The lift off is even more dynamic now too because the hull is a solid
that allows the force of the wave to shoot you up in the air, instead
of first flexing and absorbing some of the force.

It is 8:50, time to get ready to paddle, well, maybe
we’ll wait until 9:30 and let the sun get a little higher, that
is Emily’s input. Either way it is a kick back day, giving thanks
for all that we have…

🙂 EJ
