Boat Armor Outfitting and Super Fun Review by Will Richardson | Feb 28, 2006 | Whitewater | 0 comments February 28, 2006 EJ, I got into white water paddling a little over a year and a half ago. Nine months ago I switched from a Diesel 75 to a Super Fun and for the past six months I have also been using the happy seat and thruster combination. Four days ago I got the new (2006) seat retrofitted into my Super Fun by Colin at Valley Mill. I immediately took it out on the Potomac to test it. The boat rolls even more easily than before and it was by far the easiest boat to roll even before the new seat retrofit. At first I kept flying off all the features I tried to ride because the boat simply didn’t feel like "my boat". The new seat with the pillar reinforcements makes it much faster and looser than before. Before long I realized that the stiffer boat needs a lot less movement on my part to accomplish the same things I did before. The moves required are much more subtle and more precise than before. I have not been able to stay out of the boat since. I have paddled it every day and I feel like it has significantly steepened my learning curve. With the new seat and the happy seat and thruster combo the boat feels like a natural extension of my body. I love to paddle the Super Fun on big ocean surf and I can hardly wait for the next Atlantic storm to hit Assateague so I can see what this new rocket can do on walls of water. Thanks for helping an old dog learn some new tricks and please keep the innovations coming. Martin Trpis, Bethesda, MD Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
