The Friends of The Yampa River hosted Hotel Charley and gave a great presentation by Kent Vertrees before the show. The presentation before the show was to discuss the Bureau of Land Management’s possibly changing the Yampa ‘s classification to Wild and Scenic and the possibility of more dams in the area. It was a great presentation and a great showing of Hotel Charley. Jackson Kayak team boater Nick Hinds organized the show, and it is always a true pleasure to spend time with him and the Steamboat boys. The day before the show I had the opportunity to kayak the Yampa play park in the morning, Willow creek in the afternoon and back to the Yampa play park in the evening. Talk about a perfect day! And the day of the show I went to the Strawberry Hot Springs and had an amazing time there as well. It isn’t fair that Steamboat has so many great activities so close. I hope to spend more time there soon. The day after the show I had an opportunity to visit with Pete of Backdoor Sports. He is a Jackson Kayak dealer and doing a great job. We went over the kayaks and how to help outfit customers in the boats and help them feel as comfortable as possible. His employees are really stoked on the boats! This was a great event on all accounts.
