On June 2, 2007, we enjoyed a day on the water at Eastwood MetroPark Lake. Under sunny skies and 85 degree air temps, we had approximately 400 paddlers in attendance to demo well over 150 kayaks. The disciplines ranged from whitewater, to touring and recreational, with many of the manufacturers representatives on hand to recommend different designs for a wide range of uses. Many potential paddlers had the opportunity to participate in free beginner kayak clinics preformed by Dayton Canoe Club and Five Rivers Outdoors instructors. After seven hours on the water we wrapped up with bluegrass music performed by the Sammy Smith and the Tad Casters. A good time was had by all and I can’t wait until next years “Paddle in the Park”.

We had the opportunity to display the Jackson Mini-Tripper, Day Tripper 10, and Day Tripper 12 at our “Paddle in the Park” Demo Day Event. With over 400 people in attendance many had questions about the Day Trippers. On the grass, the concept was not totally understood, but once on the water it began to make sense. We sold all the mini trippers we had in stock. The kid in this photo here wouldn’t get out of it till his parent finally bought it for him.

The initial and directional stability was very good and the ability to enter and exit the kayak was as easy as it gets. The open deck design also allows for additional passengers such as a child or the pet lab. My personal favorite was the Mini Tripper for kids. When junior paddles this boat they could keep up with big brother/big sister that were in adult rec boats.

The Jackson family continues to do what they do best, keeping the kids in mind when they design their product.
