Learn to BACK LOOP by doing exercises in the video!

What is it?

Back flip initiated and finished between a horizontal angle of – 20° and 20°, landing in the hole or the wave. Simply a Loop done backward yet easier said than done. Because it is harder to spot plug location while backwards without crooking your boat, your centre of gravity is in a different place and the paddle must be used in a different direction – it is a trick that even experienced paddlers can struggle with!

Step by Step

  1. Lean back to help the tail catch.
  2. Stay in basic position until the boat gets vertical, then lean forwards to maximize height.
  3. Throwback to full range with both blades.
  4. Crunching forwards and pushing with both blades, pull the bow underneath you.
  5. Come to basic position once the bow has come under you and stern has dropped.
