Learn to BACK ROUNDHOUSE by doing exercises in the video!

What is it?

Started at the back surf 180° horizontal angle rotation on green water at a vertical angle between 0° and 45°, clear of the foam pile at some point, where the paddler rotates around the tail of the boat landing in a forwards position. It is a backward version of the Roundhouse where again the centre of rotation is the tail instead of the body centre, which is a reason for the boat having the motion backward. Learning that motion backward opens the path for tricks like flashback, back pan am or even a pistol flip.

Step by Step

  1. Set up backward at the top of the wave.
  2. Go for the rail drive when you start going down.
  3. Push on the leading edge and rotate your body to the secondary side.
  4. Plant secondary blade on the water near the knee and throw head over into full shoulder rotation looking upstream over the leading shoulder.
  5. Pull on blade crunching your legs towards upstream.
  6. Reach around and land using a forward stroke with the leading blade.
