Russell has been fishing since he was two years old. He would always fish with his grandfather and father on the Youghiogheny River. Growing up in Whitsett, PA and being right next to the river, he has always found fishing enjoyable and part of life. Russell enjoys fishing any lake, river, or stream. He has fished every chance he could get, from an aircraft carrier during his U.S. Navy enlistment, to his favorite canoeing/kayaking the Yough River. With fishing 100+ days a year, he still finds beauty in every fish and enjoys watching them swim away to fight another day. When he is not teaching someone his love for the outdoors, he enjoys fishing tournaments with the Kayak-Anglers.com, Mountain State Kayak-Anglers, and Kayak – Bass Fishing Series (KBF). Aside from fishing tournaments and teaching others, his favorite thing that he enjoys is teaching his three year old daughter, Londyn how to fish. Since 2014, Jackson Kayaks have taken him to twelve different states and countless bodies of water. In 2016, Russell became a certified Level II sit on top kayak instructor and obtained a River Kayak Fishing Endorsement through the American Canoe Association. Moving forward in 2017, he is looking forward into giving others the opportunity to explore new waters. He will be offering beginner kayak instruction and local guided fishing trips on his local waters.
