Hello, my name is Shane Coon. I am a God-fearing, hard working husband, father of 3 beautiful girls, and a Pastor. I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, where I still live today. I am a city boy by birth, but a river rat at heart.

I did not fish much growing up, nor did I as an adult. That was until my daughter asked for a fishing pole for her 10th birthday. So we bought her a pole and a tackle box. I dusted off my father’s hand-me-downs, and away we went. We started out bank fishing, did that for a bit until she convinced me to buy a canoe. We fished out of that for a while. Well, then she grew up, got older and was “too cool” to fish. By this time I was hooked. One issue though, it is hard to fish from a canoe with only one person.  So I sold it and bought my first CHEAP kayak. I realized very quickly that you can't put a price on safety, stability and comfort when it comes to kayaking. Long story short, I had to upgrade from that kayak immediately. I upgraded several times until I got into my first pedal drive.  I began to do some local tournaments for fun and joined a kayak fishing club. I did fairly well fishing on my local lakes. In my first season I was awarded the ambassador award for the club, finished top 10, and qualified for the KBF national championship. It was not until I did my first river tournament series that I found what I had been missing in life. I truly cannot describe the feeling I get when I am on southern Ozarks rivers and streams. The peace of the scenery, the rush of the currents, the flowing crystal clear waters and the adrenaline of catching those smallmouth bass. To me it's probably the closest place on this earth to feeling what heaven will be like. Ultimately I was hooked on competitive fishing and in love with river kayak fishing.

Currently I feel like the Lord has fixed my focus on turning my passion for kayaking and kayak fishing into a ministry for Him. I truly believe the kayak community is a great place to share not only my passion for the sport, but also my love for Jesus. I am truly honored and blessed to be a part of the Jackson Team. I know good things are to come for both me and His Kingdom.
